Traditional cuisine is an essential part of the Pátzcuaro destination experience. Participants will discover the authentic flavors of Michoacán through regional specialties such as corundas, uchepos and churipo, along with traditional cooking techniques and culinary customs passed down through generations.
In 2010, UNESCO inscribed Traditional Mexican Cuisine, with Michoacán as its paradigm, on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. For international visitors, meeting Michoacán’s traditional cooks offers an especially meaningful cultural experience, providing a personal connection to the region’s heritage, ancestral knowledge, local ingredients and culinary traditions preserved across generations.
